Retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s future strip club will be housed just west of the Strip and is expected to open soon, said Shane Emerick, his attorney.
The eight-time, five-division boxing champion will operate Girl Collection at 2580 S. Highland Drive, near Sahara Avenue and Interstate 15. It’s the site of the former Sheri’s Cabaret and was recently purchased by Mayweather, Emerick said.
“Floyd has obtained licensing for Girl Collection and as far as when it opens and things like that, they haven’t been determined yet,” Emerick said. “But he has obtained a work card and licenses.”
Mayweather, who has the reputation of spending copious amounts of money at strip clubs, initially announced his intentions to open a club in July on Instagram.
“I am just months away from opening up my very own strip club in Las Vegas, Nevada called @GirlCollection,” Mayweather posted.
The 6,000-square-foot building was listed for sale at $2.9 million. Emerick said plans are for it to be a “high-end cabaret.”
Mayweather will be ditching the all-nude performances of Sheri’s Cabaret for a topless club that serves alcohol. Clubs offering all-nude performances in Southern Nevada aren’t allowed to serve alcohol — the lone exception is Palomino Club in North Las Vegas, which opened in the late-1960s before lawmakers banned alcohol from all-nude clubs.
